Physical

Yep.  Today was the day.  Had to get my physical exam, or as I like to think of it, the day I got to  get a large pinkberry yogurt.  I won’t bore you with the details, and hey, I didn’t take my camera in there with me.  But once again, very proud of my blood pressure, 116/60, heart rate 65, and even my weight was down 1 1/2 pounds from last month’s visit.  They measured me this time, and I am exactly 5 feet tall.   I’ve lost a half an inch somewhere along the way.

Here’s my pinkberry.  I was kind of mad at myself for getting the granola, because they put way too much on, and it wasn’t that good.  I actually dumped most of it off, which almost resulted in me losing the yogurt too!  Pinkberry is the best frozen yogurt I’ve had.  And I think I can safely say I’ve tried most of the frozen yogurt shops in Northern California!

Before I left for the doctor, Noah and I got out for a nice long walk.  That storm yesterday dumped 5 1/4 inches of rain on us!  But this morning the sun was trying to peek through the clouds, and there was some mist in the trees, which we don’t have too often.

That was a good walk.  Everything smelled so good after the rain.  Here’s the little stream by the mailboxes.  It was completely dried up just the day before.

After the yogurt and a visit to Henry’s (a store that’s like a cross between Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods) I headed home.  Got in a walk with all three dogs, and then took Noah for a third walk because he was pretty wound up!

I ate light before going, because I knew I was going to have the yogurt, and I planned on having a pear salad for dinner.  This salad was absolutely delicious–every bit as good as something you’d get in an upscale restaurant.  Yes, I’d know that because I eat in so many upscale restaurants.  Not.  Anyway, it is very satisfying to use really good ingredients and have a really nice salad sometimes.  That is something I wouldn’t let myself do when I was first starting to lose weight on Weight Watchers–too many points, I thought.  This was a small salad, maybe 225-250 calories.

Baby greens, Comice pear, blue cheese, and walnuts.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a very special video post!

  1. Congrats on the good physical! It shows that you are taking good care of yourself.

That salad looks amazing. I used to be the same way with points. I would get the most chemical filled, lite, fat-free stuff because it was low in points. The bulk eater in me sometimes has to remember that a little bit of the real thing is way more satisfying than a bunch of psuedofoods.

I can almost smell the moss in that forest!

  2. Great numbers coming from your physical exam, Debby. They’re a testament to all of your hard work. Your pinkberry looks soooo good! I wish we had a Pinkberry in Minnesota.

  3. I just love your outside pictures – looks so different than East TN. Hope to visit someday. I’ve been to southern CA, but not further north than Santa Barbara.

Such great vitals – good job.

My 5’8 would look like an amazon beside your little petite self!

    • I’m prejudiced, but there are a lot of beautiful places in Northern California. I love Tennessee too, though.

Well, I wouldn’t exactly term myself petite, but I will just say thank you. I do like it when I find petite size clothes–they fit better, and no hemming involved.

  4. Your upscale restaurant comment made me LOL – but I know what you mean! That salad looks so good – what do you use for dressing?

I have never had the pleasure of trying Pinkberry. I absolutely love how you have hit all of the frozen yogurt places near and far in Northern California – you could publish a Zagut’s-type guide!

Congratulations on the great physical – so awesome how taking control of your body has yielded yet more great results. 🙂 Although, what is up with the height? I’ve lost a bit, too…and as you know, neither of us can afford to lose any more!

    • LOL at ‘neither of us can afford to lose any more.’

I’ve got a feeling Red Mango might be like Pinkberry. I’ve got to get there one of these days!

  5. One day I’m having Pinkberry. I just need to find one. It’s funny to me how frozen yogurt shops are so popular in the midwest and west. Over here on the right side of the country we specialize in full fat ice cream!

I have to go to the doctor way more often than I’d like so I think I’m going to steal your idea of thinking of it as “The Day I Get to Have a Piece of Dove Chocolate” or something like that!

  6. Yay!! I can’t wait for the video post!! It’s been awhile.

Good job on your good numbers! You deserved that Pinkberry. We are getting a Cherry Berry here in my little town – wonder how it compares? I’ll go try it out and let you know, all in the name of research!!
