Someone Else’s Garden

I went to Cambria Pines Rug Camp again. It is one of my favorite places to go. Partly because it is fun to spend four days doing nothing but rug hooking, and partly because the grounds are so beautiful and the food is so good. The first day I took a walk in a back area. Even here, they have made a pretty landscape.

I love the way they have hung hanging baskets all along this fence.

This picture just makes me want to have more and more snapdragons!

And this was such a pretty arrangement of succulents.

I love these little bird houses with plants on top of them. This one is filled with succulents.

And here’s what I did while I was at camp. This is a design I drew illustrating “The Parable of the Seeds” from the Bible. I even looked up “Israeli birds” and those are some birds that I found. They really are brilliant green! This is a simple pattern and I really had fun working on it.

Cambria is very near to the sea, so the temperatures were moderate all week. I don’t think it ever got over 70 degrees. One of my nurse friends retired recently, and she was interested in rug hooking, so we went together–so fun!

While I was gone, the temps soared up by my house, so come back in a couple of days to see some of my own garden.

  1. I LOVE when you go to Cambria! This one is going to be beautiful. It is so cool to zoom in on the lower right corner for example, and see all the detail and shading. It was nice of you to work some on each section just so we could preview what’s in store. 😉

P.S. Are you really up this early or does WordPress do some automatic posting thing?

    • LOL. No I’m not up this early. I just set it to post early for my readers in other areas of the country 🙂

  2. I love the metal trellises on the fence – the shapes are so different from a usual trellis, and hanging baskets from them? Brilliant! All of the colors, the design, THE SUCCULENTS are such a treat for the eye, ahhhhhh. Thank you for sharing them with us. 🙂

Your newest rug design is so cool, I haven’t seen you do one with flowers yet – I like how you’re doing them!

  3. Snapdragons are one fo my favorites, too. I’m lucky in that they grow willy nilly in my garden with very little effort.

  4. I’m glad you had fun at Hooker Camp! 😉 How fun that you got to go with a friend this year!! Those snapdragons are SO PRETTY!! And being a landscapers wife, I immediately noticed the pavestone walkway in your first photo – that thing is no joke! That probably took a lot of hours to put that in. Worth it though, because it makes everything look that much prettier, I think.
