Good morning.  Although by the time I actually get this video loaded, it might be evening!

    Disclaimer:  I do not look nearly as old in person as I look on the video.  I’ve heard that home videos add 10 years to the person’s actual age.  And I am sticking by that story.  Also, does anybody know how to edit videos so you don’t get that horrible picture of me plopping into my chair at the beginning of the video?  There is a place to edit on my flip video thingy but I can’t seem to get it to work.  Also, the whole co-dependent relationship between me and Sophie–her licking me, and me constantly stroking her–a little embarrassing.  I am not even aware at the time that this is happening…

    Food plan for the day (since I am having trouble eating a little too much, thought I’d be accountable):

    • Banana custard oats.  Done.
    • Snack:  Chile Reyeno Casserole (egg dish)
    • Lunch:  Edemame Tofu salad
    • Snack:  New ‘raw vegan protein bar recipe’ I tried.  Of course I adjusted the recipe a tiny bit.  And also I forgot the mashed banana.  Youza, the dough on these was good.  But a little ‘pricy’ at 185 calories per bar if I divide the recipe into 15 servings.
    • Dinner:  Some kind of green salad  (which I really wanted when I first wrote this, but now it is cold and rainy, so this option might change.)

    New shortened recipe idea:  The other day I was quite intrigued with Christie’s homemade fish taco recipe.  Last night I was in the mood for fish, but no tacos on hand.  I just grilled a couple of small red snapper fillets on med-high heat in a pan sprayed with pam, squeezed lime juice over them when they were done, and topped with some store-bought peach-mango salsa.  Quite delicious, and very satisfying with a side of veggies.


    A Perfect Birthday’s Eve

    Hi all!  Here’s a few photos I’ve been meaning to stick into a blog.  First one is another of the great turkey salads I’ve been enjoying.  I added avocado to this one.  It’s really a pretty, festive salad.

    This next picture might seem a little strange, but this is actually a dinner that I really enjoy.  It is quite a departure from the way I used to eat dinner.  Maybe it will inspire someone to try a simpler approach to dinner.  Just 2 chicken tenders–I cook on medium high heat, spray pam in pan, and season with salt and pepper.  Only 100 calories.  And some roasted brussel sprouts.  They look burned, but they are just right.  You can spray them with pam, or toss with a little olive oil, season with salt and pepper.  I don’t think that much about it any more, but I pretty routinely use a salad plate for my dinner.

    Next pic. is of that fabulous snack I mentioned in the video.  This was so delicious, it seemed better than cake to me!   Half an apple, peeled and cored, spread with one wedge Laughing Cow lite, and 4 walnut halves, broken into pieces.  About 135 calories for the whole thing.

    Last picture is a picture of my ‘Christmas corner,’ the furniture rearranging that I talked about in the video.  It is my new favorite spot to sit.


    Okay y’all, here it is.  The first ever video blog on debbyweighsin.  And appropriately, the lighting is not very good in it.  I had fun doing it (obviously, I like talking to myself.)  Hope you enjoy.  I came up with the title ‘Underexposed’  before I did the video.  Just my firm response that I am not going to ‘bare all’ on my blog.  But of course, there are other ways you can bare yourself.  I do always try to be very honest and open, both in my ‘real’ life and my blog life.

    Some notes on the video:

    My dogs do not usually swarm me.  I think they were amused that I was talking out loud.  Or maybe its that thing where your kids start bugging you the minute you start talking on the phone.

    My hands constantly ‘picking’ on Oliver.  I can’t even believe I do this, although my mom has pointed it out for over 40 years.  It is the dog groomer in me…

    My teeth.  Really, I don’t have one giant tooth in front.  I don’t know why the video looks like that.

    Today was one of those perfect days.  I had an appointment to meet with my pastor, mostly to discuss books, which is fun.  So I fueled up with a protein pancake (put some grilled pineapple on top) and got myself out the door early and hit the gym for a great workout.  After the meeting with my pastor, I picked up a coffee at Starbuck’s and met my friend for  a quick trip to Apple Hill.  She is a weight watcher too, so we took our lunch with us.  It was a beautiful, sunny fall day up there.  Fun!  I got a bunch of different kinds of apples and pears to try, and we found out that our most favorite apple pie place had not gone out of business as we had previously thought, and so I got a frozen pie to share with my family at Christmas.  We split an apple dumpling and called it a day–we both wanted to get home before it got dark.  I got home in time to grab Oliver and get in a good 30 minute run.  I am getting better at running up the hills.
